let me just echo my good friend, yaser
when he says:
“This is something rare…MY HEAD’S IN THE CLOUDS! [Read short lived and temporary happiness.] I feel good and happy. And I absolutely LOVE IT!”
well yaser, let’s just say
you’re not the only one
🙂

second spiel of the day
the concept of an intellectual rapper seems to be extinct
a rapper who focuses more on getting a message across than on girls dancing scantily in the back, and talking positively about pot, coke, and whatnot, and talking about money and cars
so here rolls around my friend, josh, who knows that i’m against all that crap named above
and (this is in society class, a couple of days ago or so) tells me to listen to this song
so i listen to it
and here comes on nas
with a song, that finally has that message coming from a mainstream well-known rapper (divine styler and mos def are mainstream, but don’t seem to be that well-known, or well-appreciated anyway — even though the hip hop community will know all about the two)
so listen to nas’s what goes around (always called “poison” but it’s actually “what goes around”)
go out and get your hands on it
also on the same album something about world peace
good songs
really
got me rolling back
on the hip hop track

thought of the day
it’s not called “jihad” when a couple of individuals strap bombs to themselves and blow themselves in cafes and pizzerias, killing innocents and those who are not fighting — regardless of how much your own innocents are being killed
it’s called “jihad” when the collective community chooses a reasonable leader (or, perhaps there is a lack of one), but there is armed resistance to oppression — armed resistance against the oppressors, not innocents
that’s jihad
don’t stoop so low as to be at the level of the israelis
killing innocents
now, that’s real low
