house of pain‘s “jump around”:

pack it up, pack it in, let me begin
i came to win, battle me that’s a sin
i won’t tear the sack up, punk you better back up
try an’ play da role and yo the whole crew will act up

get up, stand up
come on throw your hands up
if you got da feelin’
jump up touch the ceiling

muggs lets the funk flow
someone’s talkin’ junk, yo
i buss ’em in the eye
and then i take the punks ho(me)

feeling funky, amps in the trunk and
i got more rhymes than there’s cops at a dunkin’
donuts shop, sure ’nuff i got props
from the kids on the hill and plus my mom and my pops

i came to get down, i came to get down
so get out your seats and jump around
jump around, jump around, jump around
jump up, jump up, and get down
jump (x18)

i’ll serve your a** like john macenroe
if your girl steps up i’m smacking da h*

word to your moms, i came to drop bombs
i got more rhymes than the bible’s got psalms

and just like the prodigal son i’ve returned
anyone steppin’ on me you’ll get burned
cuz i got lyrics which you ain’t got none
if you come to battle with a shotgun

but if you do, you’re a fool
cuz i duel
to the death
tryin’ to step to me you’ll take your last breath

i got the skill, come get your fill
cuz when i shoot to give i shoot to kill

i came to get down, i came to get down
so get out your seats and jump around
jump around, jump around, jump around
jump up, jump up, and get down
jump (x18)

i’m da cream of the crop
i rise to the top
i never eat yo pig cuz your pig is a cop

or better yet a terminator, like arnold schwarzenegger
tryin’ to play me out like as if my name is sega

but i ain’t goin’ out like no punk b****
get used to one style and yo and i might switch
it up, up and around, and buck buck ya down
put out your head and then you wake up in the dawn of the dead

i’m comin’ to get ya, i’m comin’ to get ya
spittin’ out lyrics, homie i’ll wet ya

i came to get down, i came to get down
so get out your seats and jump around
jump around, jump around, jump around
jump up, jump up, and get down
jump (x32)

i just saw john q

it is an amazing, amazing, amazing movie

one of the best that i have ever seen, hands down, no questions asked

go watch it, it is pure amazing

i wrote this, long before i actually saw the movie … but it relates very closely:

i’ll buss a cap on yo capitalist a**/
ripping off the ‘middle’ and the ‘lower’ class/
your arguments “for economy” reek plain crass/
punk lemme tell you this breath is your last

to the almighty dollar you’re a slave/
more than a valley full of gold you crave/
but will you take your billions to your grave?/
dog, my backhand’s gonna make you behave

where pornography and prostitution’s a billion dollar industry/
get a population hooked on s*** through intentional perjury/
companies lie and falsify for maximum nicotine delivery/
the guvmint’s in cahoots charges millions for the surgeries/

the poor can’t afford it so they get a loan/
can’t repay it in time so they sell their homes/
interest sky highs it so they’re stripped to their bones/
while the doctors in their copters on their mobile phones

voices of dissent are quickly quelled/
they’ll turn your life into a living hell/
if you don’t conform and do as they tell/
so you can’t ever be the one to ring the bell/

the N10

could you possibly compose a list of your ten favourite songs?

now if you’ve only heard twenty songs in your life, it may be possible
but if all you do is consume music — constantly — then it can be rather difficult
i originally decided to make a list of my ten favourite songs
after a while, i decided to make it a list of one hundred
i ended up putting down a hundred and forty

but after a lot of thinking, consideration, reflection, and continuous torture to my ear drums and the nerve-endings in my cochlea, i have by virtue of no real virtue, arrived at my ten favourite songs

this is not easy folks
i have a collection of songs that grows by ten songs (that i like) almost everyday
and is standing right now at around 670 (it grew by 20 in the past 24 hours…)

these songs were judged on two things, both the lyrics (the message) and the music (the medium)
many of the songs in the N140 had the lyrics, but the music wasn’t that strong
or the lyrics were crass, but the music was amazing
the songs in this list have, i think, both

these are songs, composed by artists that have had some sort of an impact on me — songs that haven’t left my head once they’ve bored in
amazing songs

they’re sort of arranged in order of which i like best, i.e., as a count-down list
but that’s never constant, it changes
the lines are often blurred
truth be said, i can’t say i like this one song the best, or that this other song is third
they’re all amazing songs…

so here it goes… the much awaited:

N10

10. song: california dreaming
artist(s): the mamas and the papas
type: folk
description: it’s honest, it’s spiritual, it’s smooth, it’s melodic, it makes you reflect, it makes you want to sing along — the ingredients of a great song
“stopped into a church/i passed along the way/well i got down on my knees/and i pretend to pray…” — that’s a lyric that hits home, i know how it feels
this song is a true classic

9. song: ask
artist(s): the smiths
type: rock
description: “shyness is nice and/shyness can stop you/from doing all the things in life you’d like to,” it plays
the message is of great encouragement countering our common fears, that prevent us from doing things that we really want to
the music is great, excellent use of drums, the british accents are particularly likable, and morrissey’s vocals bring out the message of the song (and all “smiths” songs, no doubt)

8. song: sitting
artist(s): cat stevens
type: folk
description: “oh, i’m on my way, i know i am/somewhere not so far from here/all i know is all i feel right now/i feel a power growing in my hair.”
now i’m not particularly sure what the power in my hair has to do with much, but this song is great — as usual, the cat’s music is entirely captivating
the lyrics seem to be about a soul, detached, yet surrounded, about life itself — the journey
cat’s vocals are painful, profound, heartfelt
a spiritually moving song

7. song: a change is gonna come
artist(s): sam cooke
type:
description: this song is played during the malcolm x movie by spike lee — one of the greatest movies ever — it’s played right before he gets assassinated
it’s a deeply moving song, sad, downtrodden, lamentable even
yet it contains hope, hope for better times
“it’s been a long time coming, but i know a change is gonna come…”
sam cooke’s voice conveys anxiety, suffering, even navety
“there’ve been times when i thought i couldn’t last for long, but now i think i’m able to carry on…”
we’ve all felt that way, be it as an oppressed society, or as a trouble individual
we can all relate
the song moves

6. song: what it’s like
artist(s): everlast
type: rock hop
description: it is so easy for us to take life for granted, to be where we are and say “bah, those poor people are poor because they’re too lazy to work”
“but God forbid you ever have to walk a mile in his shoes/’cause then you really might know what it’s like to sing the blues…”
yes, whitey ford sings the blues, and the message comes across strong and clear: you have no clue how cruel life can get, stop complaining and make something of yourself, and maybe you can help others along the ways
everlast’s interesting voice communicates the cynicism and criticism (of us) effectively
“i’ve seen a loser win/and a sad man grin/i’ve heard an honest man lie…”
and the music is simply wonderful

5. song: peace train
artist(s): cat stevens
type: folk-pop
description: a protest song, a song of hope, a song of dreams, visions, a song of the quest for peace
“now come and join the living/it’s not so far from you/and it’s getting nearer/soon it will all be true…”
the music and the chorus will get you rolling, join the peace train, board the train, get on the peace train
“why must we go on hating/why can’t we live in bliss..”
cat stevens gets the message across very well…
there is an alternative to killing each other like barbarians, to butchery, slaughter, and our idiocy
it’s called peace

4. song: everybody look what’s going down
artist(s): buffalo springfield
type: rock
description: this song is the protest song of protest songs
it strongly protests war, government propaganda, blind support
“it’s time we stop, children, what’s that sound/everybody look what’s going down…”
instead we just blindly follow, we do not bother to look, we just leap
“there’s battle lines being drawn/nobody’s right, if everybody’s wrong…”
how many of us realize that? instead we only accept our party line, our religious group, our national groups
it’s not about being right or wrong now, it’s about “us” vs. “them”
but the song, with it’s amazing music that even public enemy had to integrate into on of their songs
and its lyrics with an ever-fresh, ever-relevant message, instantly declares itself a classic

3. song: hajji
artist(s): divine styler
type: hip hop
description: “yo, it’s in you to be/in the servitude of one true G-O-D/comin’ like the what ya feelin’ if ya hearin it clear/you’re gettin’ closer to the source of a man with no fear…”
with his innovative and funky, blow-your-house-down music
and his intellectual, stimulating rhymes of reason make the message clear:
i was a moron, i got saved … isn’t it about time you found some real spiritual fulfillment?
it sure is, and that’s what this song constantly reminds me of — the ideals described give you some concrete abstract goals to work toward
“what would you die for?/Allah? or the stars and cars/and artifical stayin’ high..?”

2. song: cat’s in the cradle
artist(s): harry chapin
type: folk
description: harry chapin is one of the greatest songwriters, and this is one of the greatest songs
it’s about our constant drive for material gain, that makes us forget the things that really matter
case in point, a father forgetting his son even though the son wants to spend time with him — but the song takes it further, what goes around comes around
the father is now old, he now wants to spend time with his son, but it is now his son who’s forgetting his father
“i called him up just the other day/i said i’d like to see you if you don’t mind/he said i’d love to dad if i could find the time/you see my new job’s a hassle and the kid’s got the flu/but it’s sure nice talking to you, dad, it’s been sure nice talking to you
and as i hung up the phone it occurred to me/he’d grown up just like me/my boy was just like me…”

i simply cannot communicate to you the importance of this song, the profound message, the amazing music
unless i quote the song in its absolute entirety, each chorus, each note
chapin’s style is uniquely motivating and his voice portrays a solemn motion
you must listen to this song, one of the best ever

1. song: ocean spray
artist(s): manic street preachers
type: rock
description: the vocals are painful, they speak of pain gathered from experience, from reality
the lyrics are abstract, yet they relate a message of society’s chasng materialism, yet it also relates personal suffering
“it’s easy to laugh, it’s easy to cry/to cry so, so hard, that it can’t be denied…”
the opening and the finish seem to be in a non-english tongue
the profound level of this song cannot adequately be related through words
the music, the lyrics, the song itself
it is depressing, it is shaking, it is spiritual, it is temporal, it is deeply effecting, it is superficially affecting, it is lucid, it is incomprehensible, it is amazing, it is indescribable
it must be heard — now with full concentration, yet not with a passing “glance”…

the selection of these ten songs was nearly impossible
it is not surprising that there are two cat stevens songs (10% of the N140 is composed of cat stevens songs)
what is surprising is that i didn’t place a cat stevens song at first place, or that i actually got around to being able to select
i just wanted to put “cat stevens” rather than selecting a particular song or two — almost all of his songs have had equal impact
ocean spray is a rather odd song — sometimes i find it the greatest, and other times i find it average
i think that’s part of its spiritually mystic aura…

the songs are almost all particularly enjoyable, though i think the music and stylings of a change is gonna come may be too old for some

i want opinions, let me know what y’all think…

many of the people mentioned in the credits section of the N140 list have contributed greatly to this one, as well

a note on N140:

as soon as i finished the list
i was hit with a barrage of more amazing songs
that list down there will not be modified
although i must say the following songs definitely deserve a spot more than some of the others that are on the list:
i want to ride my bicycle (or is it called bicycle race?), by queen
arthur theme song, by ziggy marley and the melody makers, from the arthur tv show — which is one of the greatest tv shows ever
chariots of fire theme, from the movie, chariots of fire — God only knows who composed it
youth of the nation, by p.o.d.
come together, by the beatles
ich lebe für hip hop, by dj tomekk, ft. gza
crash and burn, by savage garden
disarm, by smashing pumpkins
she’s so high, by tal bachman

might as well as have made it the N150 …. but after so much publicity and a rather positive response, i cannot modify the list

N10 should be out soon

what follows has been named the “N140” — my favourite songs, of all songs
i was originally aiming for N100 … but i simply couldn’t
the N10 will come out soon, that will be a tedious job
the N140 were picked out of over 650 songs, and i listened to each of the following — if you will believe it — as i made the list
it took me a while, quite a waste of time
but i figure it might amuse some people
there are people i must credit … that comes after the list
so here goes, the N140
the songs are not listed in any particular order, whatsoever
and i’ve used the words “great” and “amazing” so many times, they fail to hold any more meaning for my brain…

this is how you interpret it:
the first line has the title, and the artist
the second line has the type of music (hip hop, rock, etc.) — a question mark if i have no idea what i’m saying…

N140

1 knnen diese augen lgen, by fettes brot
hip hop
it’s german, so i don’t understand anything (except the title itself, it means “can these eyes lie?”)
the music is great, and the song gets you moving — the opening music is particularly amazing and brings your spirits up

2 a kind of magic, by queen
rock
this song has nice lyrics, can relate — heh — and the music is nice

3 rock the casbah, by the clash
(punk) rock
they make a lot of allusions to politics and stuff, you have to have some knowledge of some stuff to fully get the lyrics
but the music should be enough to get you rolling
try to watch the video, it has a jew and an arab in a convertible drinking booze and stuff — and there’s this armadillo all over the place

4 greensleeves, allegedly composed by henry viii
classical
my favourite piece of, what some would call, classical music
it’s amazing
it raises a variety of emotions, it’s graceful, it’s amazing
(i recommend getting the celtic bagpipes version)

5 didi, by cheb khalid
arabic (rock?)
this is in arabic, so i don’t get a word
but the music is great, it was really popular — particularly in the middle east and asia — prompting people to rip the guy’s music
but this is the original, it’s hype

6 yellow submarine, by the beatles
(folk-pop? rock?)
the song is simple, almost childish
it’s oddly spiritual, yet temporal
it’s got a great tune, and a great chorus

7 twist and shout, by the beatles
rock
the lyrics suck, it’s a pure pop song
but the music and whatnot gots ta get you twisting and shouting
or i don’t see how you’s human
work it on out!!!

8 always look on the bright side of life, by monty python
(folk?)
this song’s from the movie, “life of brian” — a hilarious movie at times, but not one recommended by me (go for “monty python and the holy grail” — much funnier, much less vulgar)
but this song has great lyrics — a few swear words — but a great message
and it will definitely get you whistling along, too

9 all you wanted, by michelle branch
(rock?)
a young and budding artist, who doesn’t have to expose half her body to make good music
apparently, she writes her own music and lyrics — hard to find among them “pop” singers nowadays
the lyrics are nice, and the music is nice
and the singing is good

10 children’s story, by slick rick
hip hop (rap)
the message and lyrics are great, supported by amazing music
the beats are great
you gotta get this song, it’s a real classic
to my knowledge, mos def and talib kweli (blackstar) and everlast, among others, i’m sure, have done covers of this song
it’s great

11 stuck in the middle with you, by stealer’s wheel
folk(-pop-rock)
the lyrics and music gotta get you going
nice song

12 ciao!, by lush
(punkish) rock
a conflict between a man and a woman who’ve broken up
it’s great, lush seems to make good songs for breaking up
lol, the music is nice, too
(also try to get untogether)

13 green onions, by booker t. and the mg’s
rock
this is just music, no lyrics
it often comes in car commercials
it’s great — gives a feeling of freedom or summat
nice shtuff

14 ocean spray, by the manic street preachers
rock
this is an amazing song
it’s so great, i can’t describe it
the lyrics coupled with the amazing music
pure wow
listen to it..!

15 so why so sad, by the manic street preachers
rock
another one rolls down, the music is amazing
and the lyrics are nothing short, again
great song

16 if you tolerate this, by the manic street preachers
rock
though i don’t like this as much as ocean spray
but the lyrics are niceand the music is nothing short
great message

17 i ain’t no joke, by eric b. and rakim
oldschool hip hop (rap)
some of the realest rhymers out there, oldschool hip hop, eric b. and rakim
i love this song
mainly the music

18 addictive, truth hurts, ft. rakim
hip hop (mixed with hindi)
this is a song everyone seems to be talking about
i actually understand both languages in the song
that makes it all the more enjoyable for me
it’s great
nice music — the lyrics are dumbass — but the music is nice

19 why do fools fall in love, by frankie lymon and the teenagers
oldies, rock and roll
i mean, WHY?! the question is valid
the music is great, too
frankie lymon sounds more like a seven year old than a teenager
but it’s all good…

20 what, by a tribe called quest
oldschool hip hop (rap)
nice lyrics, it asks questions
all starting with “what” — nice music, sort of, but great lyrics… sort of

21 drops of jupiter, by train
rock
two questions:
i) who HASN’T heard this song?
ii) who DOESN’T like it?
it’s amazing, cosmic lyrics, astronomical music
just great
😛

22 under the boardwalk, by drifters
(soul?)
this is a great song, the music is just ginormously great
the lyrics have no particular message (other than love)
but the song is so amazing, it doesn’t matter
it’s great

23 go where you wanna go, by the mamas and the papas
folk
the greater message of this song is hip
the lesser message (about a girl’s love) is … okay
but the greate message is hip
and the music is amazing — no questions about it

24 california dreaming, by the mamas and the papas
folk
this is an amazing song
the lyrics are pure hip
and the music is pure amazing
this is one of the greatest songs
amazing, amazing, amazing

25 dream a little dream, by mama cass elliot (one of ’em mamas and papas)
folk
oh wow, this song is so … moving
the music is so soothingly calmingly great
it’s gotta get you moving
and the classic line “dream a little dream of me”
great, pure great

26 get down on it, by kool and the gang
(er…very broadly hip hoppish?)
the song has no message whatsoever
the beat, though, is great

27 spider-man theme song, from the sixties show, cover by the ramones
theme song… (punk rock by the ramones)
could i possibly leave this out?
😉

28 i wanna be sedated, by the ramones
punk rock
this is a great song
the lyrics are all about wanting to get sedated
which is how many of us feel at times
just tranquilized, ya know
the music is great

29 blitzkreig bop, by the ramones
punk rock
who hasn’t heard the classic line, “hey ho, let’s go!” from this song?
it’s great! the music is great
and it really makes you want to get going

30 whoop, there it is, by tag team
hip hop
who hasn’t heard this song? really?
if there’s one person who hasn’t, they must not know the title, or something
it’s got some lyrics, but it’s pure musical styling
and that … oft-repeated line
“WHOOP! THERE IT IS!”

31 ain’t the devil happy, by jeru the damaja
hip hop (rap)
the lyrics and message are amazing
and jeru’s got hype rhymes
this is a must listen to song

32 black helicopters, by non phixion
hip hop (rap)
a jewish hip hop outfit?
i didn’t think so either, but these dudes are some of the greatest rappers i’ve heard, really
the lyrics are amazingly political — dissing the guvmint and all
and this song, particularly, that amazing jewish tune that goes throughout and introduces the song
i wanna link hands in one of ’em circles and join the dance
but the rapping is great
and the lyrics, too

33 i shot reagan, by non phixion
hip hop (rap)
great song, just great
the music is ill, and the lyrics just spill
the greatest thing is you’ve got to have some intellectual knowledge to understand their songs
great song

34 heaven knows i’m miserable now, by the smiths
rock
great, great song
you can feel the misery, you really can
and you can relate, you really can
great music, great lyrics
for quite some time, i couldn’t stop singing it
until i had to be threatened to stop
(it can be annoying when you’re singing this song on the archery line, i guess)

35 ask, by the smiths
rock
perhaps their most well-known song? perhaps not
but it’s definitely a great one
the message, i like
and the music is pure great

36 that’s why, by michael learns to rock
rock
this is one of the most amazing songs i’ve heard
it’s great
the music is great, and the lyrics are great
it’s pure great
GET IT, for sure!

banjo… something
this is from the movie, which i’ve heard is good — i want to watch it — haven’t yet
but the song is great
can certainly relate, heh

38 all for love, by sting and friends
rock
this is a great song, wow
the lyrics are great
the music is great
and the vocals are great
sting gets it done, great shtuff

39 message in a bottle, by sting and the police
rock
sting’s group comes through with this amazing ballad
about loneliness, love, and messages in bottle
the message is great, really great
and the music is rocking
great song, get it

40 i’ll be watching you, by sting and the police
rock
indeed, sting does it yet again
great song, great music, great lyrics
i use the word great a lot
but this is an amazing song, really
the music is very nice
puff daddy ripped the music
p. diddy’s a moron

41 barra barra, by rachid taha
arabic rock
tis an arabic ballad, for sure, so i don’t know what the heck’s going on
but the music is … nice, and the guy says barra barra so many times
it’s all that sticks in your head
nice song

42 breathless, by shankar mahadevan
hindi
it seems as if the guy sang the whole song in one breath
very nice song, too
about love, but heck what more you expect from hindi songs
it was audio-edited, but the illusion (heh) is great — of one continuous stream of words
nice song

43 valentine’s day massacre, by swollen members
hip hop (rap)
oh what a great song, i love that beat
and i love the lyrics
i love swollen members
this is great shtuff

44 bring it home, by swollen members
hip hop (rap)
indeed, swollen brings it home, and i’m sure henry, shawn, and i have annoyed enough people with our harmonic rendering of the chorus
😉
great song

45 worst comes to worst, by dilated peoples
hip hop (rap)
this is an amazing song
the music is pure great, and the lyrics are amazing
i can’t say enough about this song
i love the tune, it’s in my head constantly
get this song for sure

46 right and exact, by dilated peoples
hip hop (rap)
another great one from dilated, tho i don’t like it as much as the other one
it’s got ill tunes, and fantastic lyrics
fantastic

47 gangsta’s paradise, by coolio
hip hop (rap)
if you don’t know this song, or don’t like it — are you sure you weren’t born on mars or something?
this is one great song — i don’t even have to describe it
the music, the lyrics
“tell me why are we so blind to see, that the ones we hurt are you and me”
amazing

48 quality control, by jurassic 5
hip hop (rap)
my favourite jurassic 5 song, it sort of introduces them

great great song

49 concrete streets, by jurassic 5
hip hop (rap)
sort of introduces jurassic 5, too
this is a great song, too

50 multiples, by atmosphere
hip hop (rap)
this is a very nice song, from a great underground hip hop group
it criticizes as needed, and praises as deserved
great song
“it’s like that sh!t, it’s like this sh!t, true heads are the real music critics”

51 scapegoat, by atmosphere
hip hop (rap)
this song’s message is amazing
this is one of the greatest songs
it’s about how we blame EVERYONE except for ourselves
not individually, but as a collective identity
it’s a great, great song
get it for sure, for sure, for sure

52 tomorrow, by salif keita from the ali soundtrack
african
this … is … one of the all-time greatest songs … EVER
you don’t need to understand the lyrics of the song to get the message
the music is enough
i wish i knew what it meant, but seriously
the song is pure amazing
i feel that your life is not compelete
unless you have heard this song
it is pure amazing

53 mumia 911, by various artists (incl. chuck d. and divine styler)
hip hop (rap)
this song is amazing, because it deals politically with oppression and injustice
specifically with the case of mumia abu-jamal, but also with the greater struggle
it’s got some of the best mc’s all in one track
amazing song, really

54 hajji, by divine styler
hip hop (rap)
one of my favourite mc’s
one of my favourite songs
anyone who’s ever bothered looking at my msn or icq info/details
i’ve quote from this song
i love it
the music is great
and the lyrics are hip
i love the song

55 make it plain, by divine styler
hip hop (rap)
this song is really out there
if you can understand part of what’s going on (i’ve heard it a few hundred times, i’ve only figured out part of the lyrics)
then you may enjoy it more
but the music is great, eclectic, amazing
divine styler is known as the “jimi hendrix of hip hop”
he’s much greater than that
😉

56 the everlast/eminem/dilated peoples feud, contributed to by everlast, eminem, and dilated peoples
hip hop
it’s five songs in total, about a feud that took place two years ago, mainly between everlast and eminem
i side with everlast, btw, eminem’s a butthead
everlast dissed eminem (subtly) in a dilated track
eminem cried and bitched on his own track
then everlast came round and dissed him up
eminem cried some more on another track, but this time dissed dilated, too
dilated came round and dissed eminem — where it seems to have fizzed off…
it goes like this:
ear drum pop, by dilated peoples, ft. everlast
i remember, by eminem
whitey’s revenge, by everlast
quitter, by eminem
searching for bobby fischer, by dilated peoples
eminem’s a butthead, moron
and the whole thing was amusing

57 put your lights on, by everlast and santana
rock
i can’t get enough of this song
it’s amazing
it won a grammy
it’s great
soothing, frightening, moving

58 faith (bootleg remix), by limp bizkit, ft. everlast

my new theme song:
twenty-twenty-twenty-four hours to go
i wanna be sedated
nothing to do, nowhere to go, oh

just get me to the airport, put me on a plane
hurry, hurry, hurry, before i go insane
i can’t control my fingers, i can’t control my brain
oh no oh oh oh oh

twenty-twenty-twenty-four hours to go
i wanna be sedated
nothing to do, nowhere to go, oh
i wanna be sedated

just put me in a wheelchair, get me on a plane
hurry, hurry, hurry, before i go insane
i can’t control my fingers, i can’t control my brain
oh no oh oh oh oh

twenty-twenty-twenty-four hours to go
i wanna be sedated
nothing to do, nowhere to go, oh
i wanna be sedated

just put me in a wheelchair, get me to the show
hurry, hurry, hurry, before i go loco
i can’t control my fingers, i can’t control my toes
oh no oh oh oh oh

twenty-twenty-twenty-four hours to go
i wanna be sedated

how can i tell you how i feel/
without making it sound superficial/
you’re real yet you seem surreal/
for me your very presence is beneficial/
words cannot contain the emotion/
yet if i say nothing i will explode/
why do i relish the taste of this potion/
that makes the heaviest burden seem a light load/
i can’t imagine ever telling you/
maybe i will some day in the fall/
maybe some day before we all go to/
the final resting place of all/
what will you say if i do say it/
will you embrace me or label me a hypocrite?

this is one of the crappiest poems i’ve ever written
it is a sonnet

i wrote it because i had to get a friend motivated to write one

that’s all

otherwise i’ll stick to amateur crap rap

and short bursts of quartets if i do go for any poetry

today’s song of the week:
“all my life’s a circle” by harry chapin

that guy’s amazing
i’ve had one of his songs (cat’s in the cradle) for months, but i didn’t bother to get anymore
but when i did, i found out they’re just as good as cat’s in the cradle
(many people think cat stevens performed cat’s in the cradle — that’s not true, he never did — that’s how i found the song, then i found out more about it and found out about harry chapin)
chapin has good music, and good lyrics, make you think
other songs include:
“taxi”
“dreams go by” — highly recommended
“a better place”
go find out

great songs
