Many years ago I read in (yet another) one of those “positive thinking” books the following:<\/p>\n

Negative thinking yields negative results.
\nPositive thinking yields … negative results.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I think that is true.<\/p>\n

I’ve realized that thinking negative but performing as if you’re thinking positive is the best way to go about doing something. You’re productive, and at the same time don’t have high goals for yourself. As such, if you get negative results, you’re not surprised and you don’t feel particularly let down. At the same time, if you get positive results, you’re delighted because you’ve certainly exceeded your expectations.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, if you think positive and perform positively, then you’ve simply met your expectations. However, if you perform negatively then you’ve disappointed yourself and will feel negative the next time around.<\/p>\n

Moral of the story?
\nThink negative. You’re going to fail. You’re going to become a miserable failure with no direction in life, no friends, and no hope. Your life will be worthless and you might as well end it now to save yourself the trouble then.<\/p>\n

Believe me, that’s not harsh. You’ll thank me for it later — as you hand me the spare change from your pocket outside a local Tim Hortons.<\/p>\n
